General English

General English (GE15) Intensive  / General English (GE30)

Entry Requirements
You do not need previous language qualifications to join any of these classes. You will sit an English Placement Test and be placed in the appropriate class for your level.

Course structure/objectives
The focus is on real communication with classes containing both language work (grammar, functions, vocabulary and pronunciation) and skills work (reading, writing, listening and speaking).

The aim is to achieve an appropriate balance between the two, depending on student requirements and feedback.

CSE emphasise communication both in and outside the classroom. Inside the classroom, the teachers will al-ways focus on the real needs and requirements of the students, and these may change over time to reflect more accurately the profile of the class.
Extra material, including authentic materials such as newspapers and magazines, are used both to supplement the course book and to make the classes more engaging. All students are expected to speak English in class at all times.

In addition, each lesson contains a separate ‘Communication’ or ‘Conversation’ element. During this time your teacher will focus especially on speaking and general conversation

Progression
On arrival you will be given a Placement Test that will place you in the correct class based on your English language ability. You will be assessed through regular progress tests.

Students who achieve a strong English language ability based on the progress test results in their level will be transferred to the next level.
